JUAN DUQUE MAKES HIS PREMIOS JUVENTUD 2026 DEBUT WITH A PERFORMANCE OF “SONGO SORONGO”

The Colombian artist made his first appearance on the Premios Juventud stage last night in Marbella, Spain, where he competed in the New Generation - Male Artist and Afrobeat of the Year categories
MARBELLA, SPAIN. September 4, 2026. Juan Duque lived through one of the most important moments of his career last night. The Colombian artist made his debut at Premios Juventud, the awards show that made history this year by taking place outside the Americas for the first time, from the Starlite Amphitheater in Marbella. Duque arrived at the ceremony with two nominations, New Generation - Male Artist and Afrobeat of the Year, recognition for a year that took him from the stages of Medellín to two different continents.
The cameras didn’t just capture the night’s celebratory moments. They also revealed the message on the T-shirt Juan Duque wore on the red carpet: “What I was going to spend on a suit, I donated to my country,” a gesture through which he invited the public to donate through unicef.org.co to support those affected by the recent earthquake in Colombia.
Later in the show, Duque took the stage to perform “Songo Sorongo,” the single that opened his new era, Verraco Vibe, which became an anthem of Antioquian “recocha” since its release in July. With a stage production full of energy that reached every corner of the Starlite, the artist, affectionately known by fans as “El Wawa,” turned his first Premios Juventud performance into one of the most talked-about moments of the night.
The performance comes amid a year of sustained growth for Duque, who sold out venues across Spain as part of his tour Un Desorden Con Los Primos 2026. His highly anticipated U.S. debut, originally scheduled for August, was postponed, and new dates will be announced soon.
Between his two nominations and a performance that had Marbella on its feet, Juan Duque adds a new chapter to a year that has taken him further than he ever imagined.
